Ollie’s Army is currently putting together a cookbook as a fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis and needs your help. In order to make this project successful we need recipes from our local friends. If you would like to submit a recipe, please e-mail it to olliesarmyfightingcf@gmail.com. Please include a “catchy” name for you entry as well as a list of ingredients, directions and your name. Please keep your submission brief and easy to understand. In the case of too many entries or two of the same entry, we will accept them on a first come basis. Another way to support our efforts is to purchase an ad. Cookbooks last forever which means your ad will be there and viewed for many years. The cost of ads are $35 for ¼ page, $50 for ½ page and $100 for full page. All ads should be black and white and picture ready. For a ¼ page ad, a business card will work perfectly. Personal ads can also be purchased as a way to show your support. Great Strides Walk
This past October, Ollie's Army participated in the Great Strides Walk in Crestview, FL. GREAT STRIDES: Taking Steps to Cure Cystic Fibrosis is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's largest national fundraising event. Tens of thousands of co-workers, friends and family come together each year as one community for one cause…to help find a cure for CF. In 2009, nearly $35 million was raised to support vital CF programs. Ollie's Army raised over $15,000.00 for the foundation. This was made possible by my family and a great group of friends who pulled together and worked very hard. I am truly honored to have these special people in my life who continue to support our fight against CF....You know who you are. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart and love you all! I hope to post pictures soon but at the moment I cannot find the disc they are on.
For anyone interested in participating in the next Great Strides, please click the donate button on our sidebar and follow directions on how to sign up. The next walk is scheduled for May in Destin, FL. I do not expect us to raise as much as our last walk and in no way will I hold you liable if you do not make your set goal. I am thankful for any help whether it be raising money or awareness. This particular walk is HUGE compared to Crestview. From my understanding, we walk the main street and hundreds of people participate. There will be live music, food, and fellowship. The weather should be beautiful. I am hoping to hit the beach with all the walkers and their children afterward.
A good friend of mine told me after the walk in Crestview that she was totally inspired. She said that she had never participated in a walk and was so happy that she did. You get to see first hand the many babies, children, adults and families that are fighting this disease. You will hear stories, some happy and some sad. I hope that you will join us and be inspired as well.
